Yeah, Ethan's grown out of the "waking Lilly up" stage. Now he just wants to play with her and tease her pretty much all the time. So, that might be a problem at first. Hopefully it will work itself out or I might have a kid sleeping on my floor every night. Who knows? We'll see. C'est La vie.

Ava and Liney shared and they were only 2 years and 2 months apart. Liney slept in a bassinet in my room for the for the first two months, and she was almost sleeping through the night by the time she rejoined Ava in their room.

When I was a kid, I shared with my brother for a little while. It never seemed like a big deal to me. My only question would be doesn't Ethan like to wake Lilly up when he's vying for your attention? Would that be difficult with them sharing a room?

Sorry I'm a little late on the post...I totally don't think your whining at all. I get the space issue--living in NYC has brought a greater appreciation for small spaces and how to work around it. We feel VERY spoiled that we just moved into a 2 bedroom with just 1 kid. We have several families in our ward with 4-5 kids in a 2 bedroom...I'm not trying to make you feel like "suck it up and stop complaining" (I certainly couldn't do what they're doing) but rather what I used to consider "normal" and impossible I don't necessarily anymore. I think the idea of Ethan and Lily sharing a room is fantastic and totally do-able. And maybe Ethan won't want to live in the basement now, but maybe in a couple years. I agree with the neutral color palette and then a girly area and a boy-ish area (even if that area is just the bed). Good luck and let us know how it turns out. (Also, people are big fans of using screens to divide rooms out here--just a thought).

Yeah Ryan and I would love to see you guys sometime. We could even meet in SLC and let the kids play at the Gateway or something. Or perhaps next time you're in Logan we could go to Firehouse together, I'm always up for an excuse to go there. As of right now I'm not with child, we'll start trying next month, and hopefully I'm still fertile Murtle and then we'll have one within a year :) And then I'll be in your same situation.

Thank you so much for that advice. That could be really cute. I was thinking a more feminine bed for Lilly, like a cream or white rod iron. Ethan's bed is black, so it might be a really nice contrast.

Hey I just stumbled upon your blog. I'm Ann's daughter. First of all, your kids are DARLING! I can't stand how much Ethan looks like Ryan. Also, I love your kid's names. AND those websites are a GREAT tip! Okay, about the rooms. What are your thoughts and feelings on repainting? What if you did a minty green and brown wall arrangement and then it would be asy to have bedding to match. Her half of the room could be a little more dainty and his half could be a little more tough, while still totally cooridinating at the same time? It's just a thought. I will be in the same boat soon enough. Good luck!

I'm old. Let's get that out of the way up front! But I put my two girls in the same room "back in the day" and they never had a problem. Ever. They were 2 years apart. I had a crib and a twin. However, the two year old was not a light sleeper. I vote to keep the girls together!

I've thought about the whole room situation too with my girlie and boy. I think they can totally share a room just fine, they might even like knowing their sibling is there like a sleep over. I would go neutral on the decor aside from their comforters that might go well together. BTW that Jumping place is in Springville right off the fwy.
