I've been in the blogging world for about a year now and I really want to know, why do you blog?
I'm still trying to figure this out for myself. That's why my blog is filled with random posts. Some family stuff, some political, some social, some just rants. My blogging is infrequent because either I don't find the time to blog, don't feel like sharing my life at the moment, or just plain tired of blogging. Then I'll have spurts where I really enjoy blogging. Hmm, maybe I'm suffering from ADSB (Attention Deficit Schizophrenic Blogging). It's a new condition just discovered by the American Board of Everyone Has a Mental Disorder Organization. You can get drugs for it.
I found this blogging world to be a unique window into the human psyche and why we willingly open our lives to millions in cyber space. I know some people keep their blogs private and others don't. So, why do you blog?
Is your blog a form of creative expression?
Do you blog for family members who live far away?
Do you blog to meet people of similar interests?
Do you blog to enter into interesting discussions?
Do you blog because you feel the need to compete and show off you super cute family and make everyone else feel like theirs is less than stellar? (That was a little harsh, but definitely need to be voiced because let's face it, we all know it's there. It's like the elephant in the room.)
I'm really serious, I would love to know.
There is no wrong answer, everyone will probably have a unique reason. So please, discuss.

Good question Susie. I blog to share tips on homemaking and to get to know members of my family better. I've loved meeting new strangers whose blogs are interesting and not too braggy about their kids. I really can't stand those blogs that share "ten things I'm thinking right now, nine things I have to do today, eight secrets known only to me, seven items I had for lunch." You know what I mean! I really can't stand too much personal information. Just pictures of the kids and a short quip of explanation. Teach me something. Give me something to think about. But that's just me!!!!!!!
I blog because I'm so blessed. Just kidding.
I blog because I enjoy writing and want to have an outlet that lets me explore different voices. It's nice to be able to process thoughts and flex my writing muscles.
Secondly, I really love having a place where I can foster a conversation with my friends. I'm a little enamored of the great Salons of the past and love when the blog turns in a similar vein.
I basically have a few rules about my blog:
1. If I don't want to blog, I don't have to. This might seem simple, but when you begin to gain a readership, you start to feel an obligation and that's not why I'm doing this.
2. Make it interesting (or at least try.)
3. Don't approach topics linearly.
Azucar,
I'm blogging right now because the baby inside me is having a dance party with no consideration of the midnight hour.
It's true, you're a great writer and all great writers need a creative outlet and people are counting on you for an interesting read. I never thought about it that way, I guess this is in a way a cyber salon. I wish I had some good hair and polished nails to leave with!
BTW, you are very blessed. But I'm WAY more blessed. LOL!! Keep Stampin' and Scrapin'!!
I think I blog for distant family and friends...even those far far away friends all the way down the street in Provo! Let's face it, it is the best way to see what we are all up to! But there is a slight possibility that I might blog for the bragging aspect...not that I have a ton to brag about, but I do think my family is "stellar". And to be honest...along with the everyone has a mental disorder....I am sure we all have a bit of borderline personality in us! And the medicine for that..."the soft approach".
This might be totally random, but I don't really blog much anymore. I used to love it because I think things are really funny and I love to share those random stories. I think I'll start to really blog again when I get back into the swing of things. Not sure how long that takes.
I blog because I like to pretend that people might actually care what I have to say. Really, isn't blogging a fairly narcisstic (sp?) thing to do? It assumes people care what you say, do, look like, etc. I think there is also a little bit of that wanting to be famous aspect to it, as well. You want to have the blog that everyone likes to read. I started out by saying I was doing it as a form of journal writing...but my entries now aren't as journally as my first ones. I almost wish I didn't blog, because I lose so much time doing it...but it's addicting!!!
